Connecting cable ShVVP (ng, ng-ls) 220/380V

SHVVP connecting cord is flat, with copper conductors, with PVC insulation, with PVC outer sheath. Often used at home. This is due to the relatively low price of the conductor and at the same time good workmanship. At home, the following sections of the cord are more in demand: 2×0.5; 2×0.75; 2×1.5; 2×2.5 3×0.75; 3×1.5, 3×2.5.

    Required cable section

    Number in meters

    Conductive copper flexible conductor, class 5. The cross section of the cores is 0.5–6 mm2, the number of cores is 2–3. Insulation made of polyvinylchloride plastic compound with a distinctive color. One of the wires is a green-yellow ground wire. The insulated cores are arranged parallel to each other. Sheath made of polyvinylchloride compound. Cords are made in various sheath colors.

    ShVVP cable decoding:
    The first letter – Sh, tells us that this is a cord. Unlike conventional wire, the cord has increased flexibility.
    The second letter – B, means vinyl insulation, which is often called PVC plastic.
    The third letter is B. This indicates that the cord of this brand has double insulation, or, as it sounds more correctly, a vinyl sheath.
    The fourth letter – P, means that the cord is flat. That is, all wire strands are arranged in parallel, regardless of their number.
    In addition to these letters, there can also be “ng” or “ng-ls”, in the nomenclature where the cord is made of non-combustible insulation and has low smoke and gas emission.

    Scope of ShVVP:
    Flat wire SHVVP, unlike round wires, is easily twisted, therefore it is not used for extension cords and carrying. Due to the fact that the cross section of the cores of the ShVVP cord most often does not exceed a cross section of 2.5 mm2, it cannot be used to connect powerful electrical appliances. Despite the fact that the maximum cross-section of the cores allows you to connect some electrical appliances with a power of 1-2 kW using the ball screw screw. The main application of SHVVP is:

    Connection cords with a switch for sconces and floor lamps;
    Connection cords for TVs and monitors;
    Internal electrical wiring of chandeliers and sconces;
    Connection through a plug-socket of kitchen household appliances;
    Power supply of video surveillance cameras and low-current equipment;

    Despite double insulation, the SHVVP wire is not used for serious loads. In principle, this electrical conductor can be used in the implementation of various electrical work. Most often, the cable is used when supplying power to household low-current electrical appliances: refrigerators, table lamps, electronic devices, kitchen appliances, etc. Ball screws cannot be used, for example, to connect a washing machine or boiler to the mains.

    Additional characteristics of SHVVP:
    rated voltage – 220/380 Volts;
    rated frequency of alternating current oscillations – 50 Hz;
    peak voltage (up to 15 minutes) – 2000 Volts;
    specific electrical resistance per 1 km of the cord – no more than 270 Ohm;
    operating temperature (working) – from -40 to +40 C;
    installation is allowed at ambient temperature from -10 to +30 C;
    the minimum allowable bending radius of the cores is 30 mm2;
    permissible current load (continuously permissible current) – depends on the cross-section of the conductors (for example, for a size of 2 * 0.75 mm2 it is 6 Amperes).
