Power aluminum cable AVVG is a demanded type of cable products, more affordable than a cable with a copper core. The conductor insulation is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The cable sheath is also PVC. Aluminum conductor.
The conductor is lightweight, strong enough, and has a low cost. Aluminum has good conductivity, withstands exposure to chemically active environments. One of the main advantages of the metal is called its high corrosion resistance. On contact with oxygen or water vapor from the air, a strong, solid oxide film forms on the aluminum surface. The layer is sealed and resistant to mechanical damage. The oxide protects the metal from further deterioration.
The disadvantages of an aluminum power cable include low flexibility, fragility with repeated bends, significant electrical losses in the presence of impurities (if you use a cable from unverified manufacturers). It is recommended to use conductors in stationary installations and in networks without sharp corners, where dynamic load on the conductor is excluded.
To create stationary wiring in lighting and power networks, it is better to use AVVG cable. It is used for transmission as well as distribution of electrical energy in stationary installations, the nominal alternating voltage of which is 660-1000 volts at a frequency of 50 Hz. Also, the AVVG cable is used for laying in dry and damp premises for production, for connecting lighting devices, etc.
The price of the AVVG cable mainly depends on two factors – the cross-section and the number of cores. The demanded sections of AVVG – 3×1.5; 3×2.5; 3×4; 3×6; 3×10; 3×16; 3×25; 3×35; 3×50; 3×70; 3×120; 4×10; 5×10, etc. The most popular among AVVG cables with conductors of different cross-sections are cables with three main and one zero conductor, the so-called “three with a plus” – 3×2.5 + 1×1.5; 3×4 + 1×2.5; 3×6 + 1×4; 3×10 + 1×6; 3×16 + 1×10; 3×25 + 1×16; 3×35 + 1×16; 3×50 + 1×25; 3×70 + 1×35; 3×95 + 1×50; 3×120 + 1×70

The aluminum power cable has an alphanumeric designation, which contains the main parameters of the product:
A – means an aluminum conductor
V – insulation of conductors made of polyvinyl chloride;
V – outer sheath made of polyvinyl chloride;
G – the absence of an external protective layer (naked);
Conductive aluminum conductor, single-wire round, or multi-wire round, 1 or 2 classes of flexibility. For four-core cables, cores with a cross-section of 70–240 mm2 can be sector-shaped;
Insulation – PVC compound. Core insulation marking is color (solid or stripe) or digital. Insulated conductors of multicore cables are twisted into a core;
Sheath – PVC compound.
Multi-conductor cables must have all conductors of the same cross-section. Four-core cables with conductors with a nominal cross-section of 25 mm2 and more can have one conductor of a smaller cross-section (neutral or ground) in accordance with the table:

Application and installation:
The cable is recommended for use on special ramps, in blocks and for laying outdoors. The main advantage of these cables is that they are flame retardant when laid alone. And laying it in trenches and the ground is best avoided.
If, nevertheless, AVVG is used for laying in the ground, then only if, in combination with an aluminum wire, a special protective structure is used, the main task of which is to protect the product from the negative mechanical impact of the soil.
When creating a route, the maximum level of electrical loads must be taken into account, therefore, you should choose a modification of the AVVG wire that is ideal for the declared power.
The outer sheath of the cable is made of PVC, since this material is resistant to moisture. Aluminum products can be used in various temperature ranges.
As a rule, the AVVG cable is used if it is necessary to transmit or redistribute voltage in stationary installations. Also, such products are ideal for laying in industrial premises, regardless of conditions, or in an open space. Such a wide range of applications of wires is explained by the fact that they are reliable and efficient.
This conductor is used in the following electrical work:
– laying of overhead power lines;
– laying the network along cable racks, bridges and even in blocks;
– electrical installation in partially flooded, damp and dry premises.
– installation of wiring in explosive and fire hazardous premises.
Ways of mounting AVVG cable
1. Concealed cable routing:
Hidden cable routing is the safest and most aesthetic type of installation. The cable is laid in voids, channels, grooves of surfaces made of non-combustible or hardly combustible materials with the subsequent sealing of these places and does not require additional protection. For concealed installation in easily combustible structures, additional protection is required – asbestos pipes, metal pipes, metal hose, etc. Protection from PVC materials is undesirable for this type of cable.
2. Open cabling:
Open laying of the AVVG cable is carried out on the surfaces and ceilings of rooms that do not support combustion and do not have the possibility of mechanical damage to the cable. Installation is carried out taking into account all the rules of the PUE and SNiP. Open laying on combustible surfaces with the use of specialized protection such as electrical pipes, metal hose is also acceptable for AVVG cable. In this type of installation, PVC protection is not allowed.
The surface-mounted installation method also includes cable routing along trays, cable channels, ducts. At the same time, the parameters of the installation of structures are selected based on the design of the premises in which the cable will be laid; environmental factors in which the cable will be used are also taken into account. When installing the cable in an open way from building to building, it is possible to overhead installation of the cable on cables selected according to the cable’s own characteristics and withstanding tension, cable weight, sag arrow, ice, etc.
3. Laying in the ground:
AVVG cable, like many other cables, is not recommended for laying in trenches and soils. AVVG does not have its own protection against mechanical stress on the cable sheath, which in further operation leads to the failure of the cable.

– Minimum permissible bending radius during laying: 10 cable diameters (for single-core cable), 7.5 cable diameters (for multi-core cable);

– Minimum temperature of cable laying without preheating -15 ° С
